Introduction

When it comes to drone technology, the world has seen remarkable progress over the last few years. Drones are no longer just toys or gadgets, but rather they have become highly sophisticated machines with advanced features and capabilities. Among the leading drone models available in the market are the DJI Mavic Air 2 (SR2) and the DJI Mavic Air (SR1). Although both these models look quite similar at first glance, significant upgrades have been made in the SR2 model. Body and Design

At a glance, the two models are almost identical with similar shapes and design. However, the SR2 drone appears to be larger and heavier than the SR1, with a weight of 570 g compared to 430 g. The SR2 drone also has an improved aerodynamic design, which allows for better stability and maneuverability. The propeller guards in the SR2 model are adjustable, which enables the user to fold them for easy storage or transportation. Furthermore, the body of SR2 is made with improved, more durable materials compared to the SR1 model.

Camera and Imaging

One of the most significant differences between the two models is the advanced camera system in the SR2 drone. The SR2 model features a 48-megapixel camera, which can shoot stills with a resolution of up to 8000 x 6000 pixels. The SR2’s camera also supports 4K/60fps video recording and 1080p/60fps slow-motion recording. The camera has a 1/2-inch CMOS sensor which improves low-light performance, delivering clearer and sharper images, even in challenging lighting conditions.

On the other hand, the SR1 model features a 12-megapixel camera with a 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor capable of shooting videos up to 4K/30fps. The camera in the SR1 model lacks the advanced features found in the SR2 model, such as the improved low-light performance and the high-quality slow-motion recording.

Battery Life and Range

Both the SR1 and SR2 models come with a rechargeable battery, and they are equipped with an intelligent battery management system, which prolongs the life of the battery. The SR2 model, however, has a more powerful battery than the SR1, which enables it to fly for up to 34 minutes. In contrast, the SR1 can fly for up to 21 minutes on a single battery charge. Also, the SR2 model has a maximum transmission range of 10 km, while the SR1 has a maximum range of 4 km.

Intelligent Features

Both the SR1 and the SR2 models come with intelligent features such as obstacle avoidance, GPS tracking, and active tracking, which enables the drones to follow a target automatically. However, the SR2 model has improved obstacle avoidance systems compared to the SR1, with additional sensors placed on the drone’s top and bottom. The sensors enable the SR2 to avoid obstacles more efficiently and prevent collisions.

The SR2 model has a Spotlight 2.0 feature, which improves the tracking capabilities of the drone. Besides, the SR2 model has a Hyperlapse mode, which enables the drone to fly to a set location and take a series of photos, which are later edited into a time-lapse video. In summary, the SR2 model comes with advanced intelligent features that enhance its overall performance.
